My name is Hannah Blum. I am a writer and mental health advocate. In January 2016 I created, Halfway2Hannah, and opened up about my journey of living with bipolar disorder. In 2018 it has expanded as a platform to talk about mental health unapologetically.
I hope you find the content on this blog inspirational. You do not have to have a diagnosis of mental illness, because mental health affects all of us. Whether it be a bipolar mind or broken heart, you can feel like you are not alone here. I want to help you find beauty in what makes you different.
This blog is not intended to fix you; it is to help you gain knowledge that will empower you and encourage you to realize that you should not feel ashamed for living with a mental illness. I hope to inspire you to wear your truth and scars with confidence.
I went from Prom Queen to Mental Patient in the blink of an eye. In 2010, at the age of 20, I was involuntarily placed in a mental hospital and diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder. It is where I thought my journey ended, but little did I know it was just getting started. Over the years I have learned to embrace my life with bipolar disorder and pursued my passion for advocacy, media, creativity, and writing.
I am not the perfect mental health patient. I make mistakes every day, I love too hard and feel too much, but it is what makes me who I am. Bipolar disorder is a part of me, and I have learned to embrace what makes me different. I am grateful for this journey and the people I have met along the way.
Join the Mental Health Movement
I want others to join the mental health movement and learn to embrace their differences and what they believe to be broken. Stigma has silenced vibrant voices, tarnished innocent people’s reputation, and prevented so many individuals from thriving in life. The time is now to speak our truth.
Welcome to Halfway2hannah. I am so happy to have you on this journey with me.
